SAN FRANCISCO – Nov.9, 2015 – Havok®, a leading provider of AAA game development technology, is powering the AI, Script and Physics technology in the highly-acclaimed Halo 5: Guardians from publisher Microsoft Studios and developer 343 Industries. Halo 5: Guardians is available now on Xbox One for $59.99 (ERP).

In Halo 5: Guardians, a mysterious and unstoppable force threatens the galaxy while the Master Chief is missing and his loyalty questioned. The newest addition to the $5 billion sci-fi franchise, Halo 5: Guardians is the most dramatic Halo story to date in a 4-player cooperative epic that spans three worlds.

343 Industries worked closely with the team at Havok to integrate Havok AI to help bring to life the game characters. The Havok Physics effects are used throughout the environment to lend the title an immersive physicality that helps draw players deeper into the compelling Halo universe. Halo 5: Guardians introduces the massive new Warzone multiplayer mode that supports 24-player battles with both friendly and enemy AI dropping in to complete a variety of objectives. Havok’s suite of technology is used throughout Warzone and all of the gameplay modes to help power character movement and in-game objects throughout the massively expansive maps.

“In creating Halo 5: Guardians, the team pushed the Xbox One hardware to maintain a steady 60 frames per second for lightning-quick reaction times and visceral gameplay, and Havok’s efficient toolset helped us to reach that goal,” says David Berger, Director of Engineering at 343 Industries. “Every element of this game had to be truly epic. The graphics, sound, music, story, AI and multiplayer features were each a massive undertaking, and our collaboration with Havok gave us a robust toolset to round out the features to create something that gamers won’t forget.”
