Havok Brings Advanced Physics Technology to Gameloft’s Gangstar Vegas on iOS and Android

June 27, 2013 – San Francisco – Havok™, a leading provider of 3D interactive game development technology, and Gameloft, a leading global publisher of digital and social games, have integrated Havok Physics into Gangstar Vegas, the newest title in Gameloft’s best-selling open-world action series for mobile platforms. The award-winning Havok Physics toolset has been used to create realistic ragdoll effects and more natural control of the game’s vehicles to enable amazing stunts and thrilling driving experiences. Gangstar Vegas is available now for $6.99 on iOS on the App Store and Android on Google Play.

Gangstar Vegas, the latest episode in Gameloft’s acclaimed open-world action games, brings this franchise to the streets of Las Vegas for the first time. With a massive game world nine square kilometers in size, the iconic and diverse Las Vegas locale packs 80 intense missions including a mix of driving, flying, martial arts, gambling, shooting and more to help gamers take over the city of sin. Havok Physics is integrated into the core driving mechanics to allow for natural driving controls with skidding, banking and incredible stunt driving.

“When developing Gangstar Vegas, the team didn’t hold anything back. Gambling, shotguns, jets, seedy clubs, MMA fighting and advanced physics make for a bigger, badder and better Gangstar experience than ever before,” said Robin Gazaille, Producer at Gameloft. “Physics are especially important to us because it controls how the core driving mechanics operate in the game, and it allows for some incredibly fun stunt driving and tricks.”

“The Havok team is proud to see our advanced physics runtime and tools make their way to an epic mobile title like Gangstar Vegas,” said Brian Waddle, Vice President of Worldwide Sales & Marketing at Havok. “Physics are no longer solely the domain of high-powered gaming and console systems and are now seen as an invaluable component of AAA mobile titles. With the maturation and complexity of mobile game development, we think it’s especially helpful for development teams to turn to the flexible and powerful tools Havok has to offer.”
