Havok Appoints Mike Walsh as Worldwide Head of Sales
Jan 10, 2009

Havok™, the Emmy award winning Irish technology company which provides interactive software and services to the global games and movie industries, has appointed Mike Walsh as Worldwide Head of Sales.

In his new role, Mike will assume responsibility for the overall management of the sales hubs of Europe, North America, Asia and Australasia.

Mike Walsh has nearly 20 years experience in professional sales in the gaming industry and in the past, he has worked with industry leading technology companies such as SGI, Alias and Softimage.

Mike Walsh is looking forward to his new role with Havok, where he will work with great customers, maintain strong relationships and sell world class solutions:

“Havok has the best customers, products and support in the entire industry. We’re known for our Physics SDK, but Havok’s future is as much about the tools pipeline as it is the runtime. Havok Behavior, Cloth and Destruction are aimed at improving both the tools pipeline as well as putting creative control in the hands of the artists. Havok Behavior might be our most important product. In-game character quality is arguably the biggest bottleneck in video game production. Havok Behavior provides teams with art tools as well as SDKs which are flexible and integrated ‘out of the box’ with our existing Physics and Animation products. It helps provide artists with the necessary tools to improve blends and transitions while providing engineers with a plug-in architecture to create custom modifiers.”

The Havok team consists of over 100 employees in six locations across four continents. Headquartered in central Dublin, Havok also has offices in San Francisco and San Antonio in the United States, Munich in Germany, Calcutta in India and Tokyo in Japan.

Havok uses a combination of next generation physics, animation and tools to reach new standards of realism and interactivity in gaming technology. On a global scale, the company works in partnership with the world’s best known game developers including Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, EA, Ubisoft and Pandemic Studios and their technology is available across all platforms including Playstation 3, Playstation 2, PSP, Xbox 360, Nintendo WII and the PC.

Many of the world’s best selling games use the Havok physics engine including Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Spore, Halo 3, Assassin’s Creed and Guitar Hero III. Havok products have been used to drive special effects in movies such as the latest Bond movie Quantum of Solace, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, Poseidon, The Matrix, Troy, Kingdom of Heaven and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Havok won an Emmy award from the US National Academy of Television, Arts & Sciences Award at a glittering ceremony in Las Vegas last year. The company was honoured with the award for their work on pioneering physics engines, which makes games more realistic than ever before.
