Junior IT Support Specialist

Role Objectives:

  • Your responsibilities will include (but not limited to )
  • Providing Desktop and application support to local and remote staff
  • Liaising with vendors as required
  • Maintaining and supporting the company's server infrastructure
  • Building and deployment of new hardware and software
  • Support of voice and data backup systems
  • Supporting TCP/IP Networks
  • You will report directly to the Global IT Manager.

Required knowledge

  • Excellent knowledge of both Linux/BSD and Windows in a business environment
  • Able to treat users as customers and manage their expectations by providing accurate estimates and tested work-products
  • 1-2 years of experience as a network administrator supporting an office of more than 20 people (on-site support only, not including call-center experience)
  • Knowledge of Linux-based servers, Windows 2003/7 Domains
  • Know how to diagnose and correct networking issues on LANs and WANs over Internet VPNs
  • Troubleshoot and correct hardware problems in servers and workstations
  • Able to prioritize workload and have excellent time management skills
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills


Desirable

  • Familiarity with the administration of Nortel BCM PBX equipment and Asterisk-based VOIP services
  • Excellent user, customer management skills
  • A strong working knowledge of TCP/IP networking and protocols (ssh, snmp, ldap, ftp etc.)
  • Familiarity in web servers such as Apache
  • Excellent problem solving skills and follow through to resolution
  • Sound understanding of networks and their infrastructure
