Havok Cloth is a new platform-optimized runtime and toolset that dramatically increases the realism of game characters and environments. It allows character designers to go beyond simplistic tight-fitting or hand-animated clothing, and to add realistic, physically-based motion to garments like skirts, capes, shirts, trousers and coats, as well other deformable items like hair, bellies or tails. Environmental objects like flags, banners, curtains and vegetation can also be deformed by Havok Cloth. Havok Cloth is easily customizable and fits into today’s workflow without burdening artists, animators or programmers. Havok Cloth™ features: • Physically-based simulation of cloth • Multithreaded and platform-optimized (including PLAYSTATION®3) • Artist-driven control of cloth behavioral properties, for example, stretching, damping and bending • Artist-friendly, modeller-based, cloth setup tools Havok_Cloth_Product_Brief.pdf Character garments Use Havok Cloth to quickly and easily animate character clothing such as shirts, trousers, skirts, capes and ponytails. Garments have controllable constraints in various areas, limiting the extent to which they can move and twist in that portion of the cloth. Garments can also collide with specific bones of the underlying model to achieve highly realistic reactions. Environmental cloth Havok Cloth is perfect for environmental cloth and deformables such as flags, curtains and foliage. You can easily control cloth’s ability to stretch and bend, its mass and its resistance to air. Havok Cloth features dynamic switching of simulation fidelity to make sure your game’s main characters and items closest to the camera look the best. Havok Cloth also allows for decoupling of simulation and display representation, so you can apply cloth simulation to arbitrary meshes, such as thick cloth.
